Pamela is Emerita Professor of Commercial Law and Regulation at the UNSW Business School, a Senior Fellow of the Melbourne Law School and a Consultant at Johnson Winter Slattery. She specialises in corporate law and securities regulation, investment law, and financial services law.

Pamela has published widely in her areas of expertise, with particular emphasis on the governance of investment firms and intermediaries. She has taught corporations law at the undergraduate and graduate level in both law and business schools, and managed investments law and financial services law at the Masters level, and is a former director of studies in banking and financial services law for the Melbourne Law Masters.

In the financial services area, her books include Managed Investments Law & Practice (CCH, looseleaf, 1999 - 2023), which is the leading Australian text on the law of collective investment schemes, and Funds Management in Australia: Officers' Duties and Liabilities (LexisNexis, 2007). She is the author of numerous book chapters and refereed journal articles on the duties and liabilities of investment intermediaries and her work on the legal responsibilities of responsible entities and their officers is frequently referenced and has been cited with approval by the High Court of Australia.

In corporations and securities law, she is co-author of Securities and Financial Services Law (LexisNexis, 11th edition 2026) and Corporate Governance (LexisNexis 2017) and lead author of the Australian, Singaporean, Malaysian and New Zealand editions of the corporations law textbook Commercial Applications of Company Law (OUP, first published 2000, 24th edition 2026). She is sole author of Directors' Legal Responsibilities: A Handbook for Australian Boards published by AICD in 2023.

Pamela is admitted to practise in the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of Victoria and New South Wales. In 2010-2011 she was the Australian Securities and Investments Commission's Regional Commissioner for Queensland and from 2013-2015 she was the Registrar of Community Housing for New South Wales. She is a former Chair of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
